All you should know about GranWatch
One page, everything explained. Five minutes from now you'll know exactly what GranWatch does, what it costs, and whether it's for your family.
The problem it solves
Every family with an older loved one carries the same quiet question: when did someone last actually visit her? Group chats don't answer it — silence in a chat looks the same whether Gran had three visitors this week or none. Distance makes it worse: the family members furthest away worry most and can see least.
What GranWatch is
A simple app for the family. Gran gets a profile with her photo, and around that photo lives a colour ring everyone shares: green when someone has visited recently, amber when a visit is due, red when nobody has been in too long. When it turns red, the whole family knows — kindly, automatically, without anyone having to be the nag.
Gran herself needs nothing. No phone, no device, no app, no button to press. She just receives visits — the family does the logging, in one tap, on their way out the door.
How it works — three steps
- 1. Create Gran's profile — add her photo, choose how often she should be visited (you decide: weekly, fortnightly — every family is different).
- 2. Invite the family — one invite link in the family group chat; everyone joins in seconds, anywhere in the world.
- 3. Visit and tap — whoever visits taps "Log a visit". The ring resets to green for everyone, from Cape Town to London to Sydney.
What else it does
Beyond the ring: gentle reminders to the family member who hasn't been in longest (never to Gran), planned visits the whole family can see (so Sunday isn't triple-booked and Tuesday isn't empty), birthday reminders, and a visit history that settles "I thought YOU went last week" before it starts. Upgrading to Gran+ adds the care layer: routines, medications and appointments kept where everyone looks, plus custom counters for anything your family wants to keep on top of (flowers delivered, garden checked, hair done).
What it costs
The heart of GranWatch is free for the whole family: the ring, visit logging, alerts, planned visits. Gran+ adds the care layer for $2.99/month — one subscription covers the entire family, and every new profile starts with a 4-month free trial, no card needed.
Privacy, plainly
GranWatch tracks visits, not people. There is nothing on Gran to track — no wearable, no camera, no sensor in her home. Only invited family members see your family's information, and it is never sold or shared. The app speaks 8 languages, and works anywhere in the world.
